Glowing Review, a 2009 dark bay mare, is by the Multiple Graded Stakes Winner Devil His Due. Although her sire was a multi-millionaire, having won 11 races from 41 starts, Glowing Review didn’t experience the racing success her daddy accomplished. With only one win and earnings of just 20K, the pretty mare finished her racing career in a 5K claiming race in July, 2014 at Mountaineer Racetrack.
Thousands of Thoroughbred racehorses are disposed of every year to seedy auctions and eventually to the slaughterhouses in Canada and Mexico. But fortunately for Glowing Review, someone was watching over her, waiting for the time her racing days were over. Thoroughbred racehorse advocate Mary Johnson wasted no time and struck a deal with the mare’s owner…she was purchased and promptly transported to Race Horse Reclaim Thoroughbred Rescue in Florida.
Once again, Saving Baby Equine Charity was thrilled to assist Race Horse Reclaim Thoroughbred Rescue...this time, with the expense of Glowing Review’s transport from the track in West Virginia to the rescue’s beautiful facility in Florida and towards the costs of her daily care. The financial commitment to the proper and loving care of a horse is significant – so we extend our deepest gratitude to Race Horse Reclaim Thoroughbred Rescue for THEIR commitment to the racehorses that are so deserving of a life after racing!
