Aged Thoroughbred

In November, 2013, Beyond the Roses Equine Rescue and Retirement received an urgent intake request for a horse in need. “Rocky”, an aged, tattooed Thoroughbred gelding, was 250-300 pounds underweight and his owner could no longer care for him. Donations were needed to help Beyond the Roses Equine Rescue and Retirement intake Rocky then attend to his many needs, just two of which are dental work and a nutritional weight-gain program. Saving Baby Equine Charity was pleased to assist with a donation, and Rocky is now receiving the care he so desperately needed. Although there has been difficulty in deciphering Rocky’s tattoo, the hope is that it can be done and we’ll all know just who “the real” Rocky is! We will provide updates on his condition as we receive them.

Rocky has been steadily gaining weight. With his improved nutritional status, the “old guy” is also feeling much better. He is now enjoying turnout with other horses at Beyond the Roses Equine Rescue and Retirement. Although his tattoo has yet to be deciphered, and therefore his “true identity” still not known, Rocky is cherished nonetheless.

Rocky...slowing but surely

putting on the pounds!
